- What is SHOP Local?
- SHOP Local is an exciting new program that allows you to earn Cashback on your local purchases like eating out at your favorite restaurant or shopping at your favorite local store. The program is new and is constantly growing so check back often to see what’s new. Sign-up to receive email alerts when new merchants are added for your zip code or cities that you are traveling to in the future.
- Does it cost anything to participate?
- It’s totally FREE! Merchants and Restaurants will never charge you anything to participate.
- How do I participate and earn Cashback with SHOP.COM's SHOP Local Offers?
Create an Account on SHOP.COM, explore offers, visit a participating merchant or restaurant listed, pay and upload the receipt and earn Cashback.
Step 1: Explore Offers
Find participating merchants and restaurants near you or for destinations, you are traveling to within the Canada and start earning Cashback!
Step 2: Transact at any SHOP Local merchant and get a receipt*.
* What qualifies as a valid receipt?
Valid receipts are those where you purchase from a SHOP Local merchant.
Receipts can be from any SHOP Local merchant for consumer goods purchase.
Receipts must include the merchant name, purchase date, total amount spent and either phone number or address and zip code of the business (the entire receipt must be in the photo).
Receipts must be submitted within one week of the purchase (7 days including the purchase date (i.e. If the transaction date is 7th of the month then the last date to submit a receipt is the 14th of the month).
Step 3: Go to SHOP Local and click the button “Submit a Receipt”

**You can view the SHOP Local Transactions & Receipts under “Cashback Activity” of My Account. When Cashback is calculated, you get Cashback based on your sub-totaled bill, excluding tips, taxes, bag fees and other business and service fees.
Once you have been awarded Cashback you can use it to purchase products on SHOP.COM OR wait until you have accrued a $15.00 CAD Cashback balance to request the amount via direct deposit to your account or request a check that will be mailed to you.
- Can I earn Cashback if I pay using a gift card, store credit or pre-paid cards?
- No. If you make a purchase and use a gift card or store credit for that business on the transaction Cashback will not be awarded. Any pre-paid Visa, MasterCard and AMEX cards with the merchant name on it will not be awarded Cashback. Pre-paid Visa, MasterCard and AMEX cards used on a transaction do qualify for Cashback once the merchant has approved the transaction.
- Can I earn Cashback on the purchase of a gift card?
- No. Cashback will not be awarded on the purchase of a gift card.
- How much Cashback can I get?
To see how much Cashback is being given at a particular merchant’s location during the time of your visit, please check the merchants offer page in SHOP Local.
What you need to know:
- Earning Cashback is quick and easy
- Get a receipt. Take a snapshot. Upload it.
- The Cashback awarded is based off your subtotaled bill excluding tips and sales tax and any service fees.
- Can I order through a delivery service or order online?
- Only if the ordering service is provided by the SHOP Local merchant. The purchase must be made through the SHOP Local merchant. However, Any third party ordering services and delivery companies (for example: Grubhub, Eat24, ChowNow, Postmates etc.) may not be eligible for Cashback through SHOP Local unless you have an official receipt which is approved by the SHOP Local merchant.
- Where can I view my Cashback history for my SHOP Local transactions?
You can view Cashback rewards in My Account on SHOP.COM.

- Is there an earnings limit per transaction?
- The maximum Cashback you can earn in a day per merchant is $250.00.
- How long does it take for a purchase to show-up in My Account?
Your purchases will show-up as “Pending” Cashback within 1 day of your receipt being approved by the SHOP Local merchant.
Transaction receipts more than 7 days old cannot be uploaded and will not be awarded Cashback.
- Why is Cashback awarded / earned not exactly the percentage of the offer?
- Cashback is based on your sub-totaled bill for the SHOP Local program only, excluding tips, taxes, other business and service fee’s, coupons and discounts applied and any amounts paid with a merchant / store credit, merchant prepaid card or gift card.
- I went to a restaurant and split the transaction with my friend. Can we both get Cashback for the amounts we paid?
- While we understand that customers do sometimes split bills with friends and family especially at restaurants Cashback can only be awarded for a single unique transaction from a merchant.
- How do I unsubscribe from SHOP Local emails?
- In the SHOP Local emails you receive, click on unsubscribe in the bottom of the email to opt-out of the emails.
- How do I get Cashback Notifications from SHOP Local?
- At this time no notifications are available for mobile devices.
